Rajasthan Royals have beaten Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets on Saturday (27th April) at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Captain Sanju Samson's impressive 71 off only 33 deliveries and Dhruv Jurel's brilliant 52 from 34 balls helped them chase down LSG's 197 run target. Before that, dual fifties from captain Rahul and Deepak Hooda helped them get 196 on the board.
Batting first, the hosts were ripped back by early struck as de Kock and Stoinis were castled in the first couple of overs and Stoin was gone for a 4 ball duck. With those early wickets, KL Rahul was a bit tepid in the powerplay but broke his shackles free after the powerplay, hammering 21 runs off an Avesh Khan over. Hooda from the other end also played some delightful strokes, carrying on from where he left off against CSK. Both batters scored fifties but Hooda holed out against Ashwin. Rahul however kept scoring some classical strokes, and made use of the longer boundaries to score plenty of doubles.
He was looking good for a hundred, but striked out against Avesh Khan at the death.
LSG got cameos from Pooran and Badoni at the end, but RR fought back well, conceding just 24 off the last three overs thanks to some solid bowling from Sandeep Sharma.
In reply, Rajasthan Royals were crumbling on 78-3. After a brisk start from the RR openers - Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, no one could prolong their innings and got out in quick succession. And Riyan Parag also fell cheaply. But that didn’t hamper Rajasthan from their winning track. Captain Sanju got hands with Dhruv Jurel. The duo strung a 121 run stand off only 62 balls to take their side home.
Sanju was unbeaten on 71* from just 33 balls, striking at 215.15. While his partner, Dhruv made 52* from 34 balls. Rajasthan Royals now have won 8 games out of 9 matches they've played thus far.
