India captain Rohit Sharma has been brought to a Dhaka hospital for an x-ray after injuring his left thumb while attempting and failing to catch a ball in the slips during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
The incident mainly happened in the second over of the Bangladesh innings. Anamul Haque Bijoy was batting and Mohammed Siraj was bowling. Bijoy, who took 10 runs in the first three balls, edged a ball to the slip in the fourth ball. Rohit could not catch the ball there.
But he got pain in his finger while catching the ball. Rohit was seen leaving the field immediately. Later BCCI said that he was sent for scans. Rohit will be looked after by the Indian cricket team's medical team there.
“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” BCCI said in a statement.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and batted in the second ODI. But currently, the Tigers are in a batting disaster. Bangladesh have collected 104 runs in 24 overs by losing 6 wickets till writing this report. Mahmudullah Riyad and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are at the crease for Bangladesh.
