Kolkata Knight Riders chased down Chennai Super Kings' 144 on 14th May (Sun). KKR won the match by 6 wickets in hands and 9 balls to spare. Skipper Rana and Rinku Singh's fantastic 99 run partnership helped them chase down the total.
CSK opted to bat first after winning the toss. Ruturaj Gaikwad couldn’t get going as he made 17 off 13 deliveries. His partner Devon Conway played a sedate innings of 30 from 28 balls before getting back to the hutch. Ajinkya Rahane failed to convert his start, he was gone after scoring 16 from 11 balls. Ambati Rayudu failed to reach double digit mark, so as Moeen Ali. It was Shivam Dube's fantastic 48* from 34 balls which took the CSK's truck going. At the end, Jadeja played a second fiddle role and scored 20 from 24 deliveries which gave CSK a modest total of 144-6 after 20 overs.
KKR spinners were on top as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine picked up two wickets apiece. While Arora and Thakur got 1 respectively.
Chasing the total, KKR lost Gurbaz in the very first over. Venkatesh Iyer hit some boundaries before edging to Deepak Chahar in the third over of KKR innings. KKR lost Jason Roy in the 5th over and were stumbling for 33-3. But captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh's match turning partnership brought them back into the match and eventually won them the match. They together added 99 runs in the innings where Rinku Singh made 54 off 43 balls and Nitish Rana scored an unbeaten 57* off 44 balls which helped them win the 6th match of the tournament.
