Rajasthan Royals won by 4 wickets against Punjab Kings in Indian Premier League 2023 on Friday (19 May) in Dharmasala.

Winning the toss RR opted to field first. Being put into bat first, PBKS lost their top three inside the powerplay. Trent Boult bowled a furious spell which helped RR getting the early wickets. Boult got Prabhsimran caught and bowled for 2. The astute leggie Adam Zampa trapped Dhawan infront  of pads for 17. While Navdeep Saini got Athavra Taide and PBKS were stuttering for 46-3 after the powerplay.

After having a barren powerplay, PBKS couldn’t get the tempo they needed. They lost their talismanic batter Liam Livingstone as his stumps were flying of a peach from Navdeep Saini. It was Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma's 64 run partnership which helped PBKS getting a higher total. Curran scored an unbeaten 49 off 31 balls. While the other Jitesh Sharma scored a brilliant 44 off 28 balls.

At the end, it was Shahrukh Khan's onburst and monstrous hitting which shifted the impetus towards PBKS. Shahrukh scored a quick-fire 41 off 23 balls with a jaw dropping strike rate of 178.26 which helped PBKS finish their innings at 187-5.

Climbing the total, RR faltered earlier of their innings. English wk - batter was plumb infront off Rabada's corker for a duck. Number three batter Devdutt Padikkal scored a magnificent 51 off 30 balls before Arshdeep Singh got him. The young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 50 off 36 before Nathan Ellis took the wicket of him. Then the onus came to Shimron Hitmayer and Riyan Parag. RR needed 33 off the last 3 overs.

Riyan smoked 2 sixes in the over of Kagiso Rabada off 18th over and the deficit came down to 19 off the last 2 overs. In the next over, Hetmayer hit two fours before getting out to Curran for 46 off 28 balls. But the damage was already done, they needed only 9 off last 7 balls. Boult came and took no run, which left RR need 9 off the last over.

Rahul Chahar came in the last over, Dhruv Jurel nudged the ball to deep - mid wicket and took 2 runs. In the second ball, they took a single. Boult gave the strike to Jurel and Jurel smoked a monstrous six to finish things off.
