MS Dhoni continues to defy age and expectations. In Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) recent win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the 43-year-old once again showed why he’s still one of the most respected figures in world cricket. Dhoni smashed a quickfire 25 off just 11 balls finishing the game in his signature style and former Australia national cricket team captain Michael Clarke couldn’t help but applaud.

Speaking on Star Sports after the match Clarke praised Dhoni not just for his batting and wicketkeeping but more so for his exceptional leadership on the field.

“It's always loud when MS Dhoni's in town. Look, his keeping does not surprise me. I've said it before, in my opinion, he's still the best wicketkeeper in the world. It's phenomenal how consistent he's been over a long period of time. I thought his captaincy was spot on tonight as well, the way he used both spinners through the middle, got through overs quick, built some pressure,” said Clarke on Star Sports

But it wasn’t just Dhoni’s glovework or finishing touch that caught Clarke’s eye it was his captaincy.

“The best thing tonight was MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Absolutely phenomenal. He read the conditions so well, adjusted on the go, and used his spinners perfectly. That’s classic MS. He rushed through overs, built pressure, and created breakthroughs. His experience was the real difference-maker,” Clarke added.

Dhoni’s sharp captaincy came into full effect as CSK restricted LSG to just 166/7 in 20 overs. The spinners did most of the damage in the middle overs a tactic Dhoni executed with perfection helping CSK bounce back after a heavy defeat against KKR.
