In the 7th over of Mumbai Indians’ innings Ryan Rickelton hit a seemingly regulation catch to STH captain Pat Cummins off Zeeshan Ansari triggering wild celebrations in the SRH camp as it appeared to be Ansari’s first IPL wicket.
However, the dismissal didn’t stand a no-ball was signaled by the on-field umpire after an intervention from the fourth umpire.
The reason? Klaasen had committed a violation of Law 27.3 of the MCC Laws of Cricket which states that a wicketkeeper must remain completely behind the stumps until the ball hits the bat the batter or passes the stumps.

In this case Klaasen had moved his gloves in front of the stumps before the ball was played making it an automatic no-ball despite the delivery itself being legal. Even Rickelton who had already stepped over the boundary was called back to resume his innings.
MCC Law 27.3 – What Went Wrong?
According to Law 27.3.1:
“The wicketkeeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker’s end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball either strikes the bat or person of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end.”
