Misbah-ul-Haq, who was recently appointed advisor to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf and is also a former national team captain, has proposed four names for the Chief Selector position:

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cricket committee chairman Misbah-ul-Haq will propose four names for the role of chief selector for the men's national team, sources say.

Misbah, who also serves as an advisor to PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf, has shortlisted the names of former cricketers Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali for the chief selector post.

The appointment of a new chief draft player is a crucial decision for Pakistan cricket. Following the appointment of a new primary selector, teams for the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup and 2023 ICC World Cup can be determined.

Mushtaq played 52 Tests and 144 ODIs for Pakistan, taking 185 wickets in Tests and 161 in ODIs. Wasim contested 18 Tests and 25 ODIs while Azhar represented Pakistan in 97 Tests and 53 ODIs.

Inzamam-ul-Haq the most popular name on the list is a former Pakistani captain. He played 120 Tests and 378 ODIs, scoring 8,830 and 11,739 runs respectively. He is one of the greatest batsmen to ever play for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Misbah has approached Azhar, Inzamam, Waqar Younis, Mohammad Hafeez and Rashid Latif for the role as cricket committee members.

Misbah also held a domestic circle structure committee meeting yesterday. The former captain will also face Zaka Ashraf later today.

PCB had offered Misbah a full-time position, but he decided against taking it due to his previous commitments. He will be acting as an advisor to the Chair on a voluntary basis as it is an honorary activity.

Misbah will work with the PCB's Cricket and Technical Committee while also representing Pakistan at International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings.
