In the 26th match of the fourth season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Khulna Titans' skipper Mahmudullah Riyad has guided his team towards a comfortable win of 6 wickets against Barisal Bulls at the Sher - E - Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka a little while ago. Chasing a trifle target of 119 runs was never been a hard task for the Khulna Titans despite losing opener Hasanuzzaman's wicket in the first over of the match when the team score was just 5. The chasing team lost one more wicket in a hurry, one down batsman Riki Wessels was uprooted by Rumman Raees scoring 5 runs. The left out opener on the crease Taibur Rahman and middle order batsman Shuvagata Hom dragged the team score to 49 from 16 where they lost two wickets. Shuvagata made the highest score among the Titans' batsmen; playing 34 deliveries, Hom produced 40 runs with a couple of entertaining shots. On the other hand, skipper Mahmudullah Riyad was there till the end of the innings. Facing 35 deliveries, the cool headed skipper scored 36 runs with two long shots of sixes to hasten the victory. They had still eight balls in hand when Khulna Titans surpassed Barisal Bulls's target of 119. Earlier Barisal Bulls’ innings started in a horrid way and from where they could never be able to return in the innings. Opener DJ Malan and Ajantha Mendis stood together for 18 runs before both of them fall in the successive overs. Malan (7 runs off 10 balls, 4x1) was the first to go facing Junaid Khan and Mendis, after scoring double than Malan, also lost his wicket to Shafiul in the next over – this time Junaid Khan was there to take the catch. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim hit flurry of boundaries in his 31 run knock; Barisal Bulls was quite unfortunately to lose him early in the innings when he fall short of the crease to a throw of Mosharraf Hossain in the 15th over. Shahriar Nafees, after his marvelous start of this season’s BPL, has been faltering for the last few matches. In today’s show, he scored only 23 runs (27 balls) with 3 shots of four. Despite losing not too many wickets, Barisal Bulls’ inning could not produce any authoritative score to threat the Khulna Titans. With Enamul Haque scoring an unbeaten 20 runs at the ending phase, Barisal Bulls was obstructed to run not more than 119 runs in their assigned 20 overs. Thisara Perera was not out at 17.
