Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 group-stage match at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
The good news for Bangladesh is pacer Taskin Ahmed is back in the squad after recovering from injury. He got a side strain injury before the last T20I against Zimbabwe last month but he’s now fit to play the Bangladesh’s opener in the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh have gone for three pacer alongside with specialist spinner-Rishad Hossain. Pacer Shoriful Islam missed the XI due to injury he picked-up against India in the warm-up match. Tanzim Hasan Sakib is playing in replace of him. Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das all are playing at the team as wicket-keeper Jaker Ali misses out the squad. So, Litton will keep the wicket for Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka have made one change to their squad after a dismal defeat in their first match of the tournament against South Africa. Dhananjaya de Silva have replaced Sadeera Samarawickrama in the playing XI.
Bangladesh have not been in good form recently as they lost to USA by 2-1 in a three-match T20I series after reaching USA early for adoptions. They also lost miserably in the warm-up match against India by 60 runs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka have already played one match in the tournament. They were thrashed by South Africa in their first game, were bundled up for a measly 77 runs and couldn’t stand up infront of the fierce protea pace bowling attack.
