England captain Jos Buttler praises the bowlers after a destructive win against Oman in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
England thrashed Oman by 9 wickets on Friday (June 14) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium to keep their chances alive for Super Eight. There were several records broken during the match.
Adil Rashid's brilliant 4 fer, with Mark Wood and Jofra Archer too shared 6 wickets together bundled Oman out for a meagre 47 runs. “Thought the tone was set by the bowlers, take early wicket and restrict them. Job done today, another game in two days' time. Bowled brilliantly, there was extra bounce. Topley with his height... I thought they bowled a good line and length. Don't think anyone expected the wicket to play like it did, looked a really good surface,” Buttler said.
In reply, England chased down the total inside 4 overs to go past Scotland's NRR. They chased down the total in 3.1 overs, with 9 wickets in hands. Their NRR increased to +3.081, while Scotland's are +2.164. “Just looked to be positive, try to take advantage of the NRR,” Buttler added.
After losing the match against Australia, England faced criticism. However, Buttler says they’re now focusing on the next game only against Namibia which is on June 15. “Been around long enough to know that people make comments. We know what's going on in the dressing room. We have another huge match to come. We can only control what we do, all focus is on that,” Buttler concluded.
