Jadeja’s clutch performance helps CSK win their 5th title in a last ball thriller in the final

Chennai Super Kings win a last ball thriller against Gujrat Titans to win 4th IPL title. Openers and Jadeja's clutch performance helped them topple Gujrat Titans in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 30).
CSK winning the toss and elected to bowl first in the grand finale of IPL 2023. After being put into bat first, GT had a flying start. Courtesy Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. Gill was dealing with boundaries while Saha too opened his hands. They both added 67 inside 7 overs before Gill got lightning stumps by Dhoni off Ravindra Jadeja for a 20 ball 39.
But his partner Saha, notched up his fifty and scored a fine 54 off 39 balls.
After the departure of these two, Sai Sudharsan kept the ship going. He was batting on a different track and kept finding boundaries at his will. He scored a majestic 96 off only 47 deliveries with a jaw dropping strike rate of 204.6. He smacked 8 boundaries and went for 6 massive sixes in his glorious knock. On the other hand, skippet Hardik Pandya gave hands to Sai Sudharsan as he made a quick-fire 21 off 12 ball cameo to finish things for a mammoth 214-4 after 20 overs.
It was very unlike CSK in the grand finale as they missed catches and run out opportunities in numbers. Even the ground fielding was too much ordinary as they conceded some free runs. Matheesha Pathirana from CSK bowled beautifully as he conceded 44 off 4 overs and picked up 2 wickets. While Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja got 1 each.
There were drizzle and then shower in Ahmedabad which enforced match referee to reduce CSK's innings to 15 overs and the target was 171 to reach.
Climbing the mountain, CSK got off to a flier alike GT. Thanks to Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The duo added 74 off only 6.3 overs before 2 quick wickets shifted the impetus towards GT. Noor Ahmed’s beautiful spell sent both the openers packing and CSK were stumbling for 78-2.
Ajinkya Rahane got a good start as he raced to 27 off 13 balls but couldn’t long his innings. Rayudu too scored a quick-fire 19 off 8 balls. But Jadeja and Dube kept hope for CSK . At one point they needed 10 off last 2 balls and Jadeja smacked a four and a six to win the match for CSK.
