Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) slugger Rajat Patidar said he is not letting the pressure build up on his head. Patidar played a stellar inning against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator match on Wednesday (May 25).
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar has opened up about his strength as a batter following his exploits against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) Eliminator game. On the back of his stunning barrel (112* out of 54), the Red Army scored 207 runs in their allotted 20 overs and eventually won the competition by 14 runs.
Patidar has been part of the RCB camp since 2021 but hasn't had enough chances to demonstrate his punching power. It took Patidar a bit of luck to return to the Red Army camp. It should be noted that the right-hander did not find any bidders during the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, his breakthrough came after RCB's Luvnith Sisodia was injured and the RCB camp decided to replace him with Patidar.
On a day when big names like Faf du Plessis (0), Virat Kohli (25) and Glenn Maxwell (9) failed to contribute in the deciding game, Patidar took responsibility for RCB ending the board with a commendable result .
Patidar took aim at LSG spin bowlers Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi during his slam. He slammed three fours and a six against Krunal as RCB went 52/1 on the power play overs.
The real fun began when Patidar Bishnoi scored in the 16th over with just five balls for 26 (three sixes and two fours).
Patidar forged an undivided 92-run streak with Dinesh Karthik as RCB added 84 runs in the last five overs to take RCB to 207/4.
In response, LSG looked for the best part, with players like KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda playing excellent shots. However, the Red Army bowlers pulled things back in the death overs, picking up their side to a 14-run triumph.
It has been reported that Patidar has postponed his wedding plans to join RCB camp mid-season as a replacement for Luvnith Sisodia.
Manohar Patidar, father of Rajat, said his son's marriage was fixed within this month.
But the moment Patidar got the call from RCB, the Madhya Pradesh player immediately departed for Mumbai while postponing his wedding plans.
