Fortune Barishal beat Khulna Tigers by 7 runs on Wednesday (January 22). Rishad Hossain's quick-fire cameo of 39 off 19 balls and a gutsy fifty from Mahmudullah Riyad have helped Barishal get to a competitive 167 on the board. Being asked to bat first, Mehidy Hasan Miraz started off to a flier for Khulna Tigers as he removed Tamim Iqbal and Dawid Malan for golden ducks in consecutive deliveries. Wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim fell to an unlucky run-out as Fortune Barishal were dragged down to 16-3.
Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudullah Riyad then did the rebuilding job, adding 47 runs together before Miraz removed the former one on 36 off 30 deliveries. Mahmudullah Riyad then kept steering the ship for Barishal. At the backend of the innings, Rishad Hossain came with all the guns blazing, smashing a sensational 39 off just 19 deliveries, helping his side get to 167 on the board.
In reply, Jahandan Khan removed Imrul Kayes for a two-ball duck. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Naim had a tortoise like partnership as the duo added 59 runs off 51 deliveries. Nabi removed Miraz on 33 and wickets kept tumbling on the other ends. While Naim anchored the innings, scoring 77 off 59 deliveries but was unable to take his side home as Khulna Tigers were left 7 runs short from chasing the total down.
