England captain Jos Buttler praises India and says that they outplayed them with a really good game of cricket in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup on Thursday (June 27) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

England lost to India by a big margin of 68 runs. India destroyed the reigning champions England, bowling them out for a meager 103 after scoring 171 runs with a great batting display on a tough pitch.

Buttler admits that the pitch was totally different from the pitch of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final in Adelaide Oval in which England beat India by 10 wickets.

“India certainly outplayed us. We let them get 20-25 runs too many. It was a challenging surface that they played well on. They outplayed us and fully deserved the win. Very different conditions (than 2022), credit to India. They played a really good game of cricket. With the rain around, didn't expect the conditions to change that much. Don't think it really did. They outbowled us,” Buttler said.

Buttler thinks that the decision to bowl after winning the toss didn’t have any impact on the game rather the brilliant batting from India made the difference. He also adds that Moeen Ali should have bowled in the match as the pitch assisted the spinners much. Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone went for just around 6 runs in their 8 overs while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took 6 wickets among them for India.

“They had an above-par score. I don't think that toss was necessarily the difference between the teams. They've got some fantastic spinners. Our two guys (Rashid and Livingstone) bowled well. In hindsight, should have bowled Moeen in that innings with the way spin was playing. They had an above-par score and with a brilliant bowling attack, it was always going to be a tough chase,” he added.
