Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has opened up about his disinterest in social media and how he manages to stay fit ahead of IPL 2025. Despite having accounts on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Dhoni admitted that he is not a big fan of using them and prefers to stay away from the spotlight.

Speaking on the latest episode of 'Tread Talks' by Eurogrip Tyres, Dhoni reflected on how his managers often encouraged him to engage in social media for public relations purposes. However, the 42-year-old cricket icon believes that good performances on the field speak louder than any PR activities.

"I have never been a big fan of social media," Dhoni said. "Throughout my career, different managers would push me to build my presence online. When I started playing in 2004, platforms like Twitter and Instagram were gaining popularity, and my managers would suggest PR strategies. But I always had the same response: If I play good cricket, I don't need PR."

Dhoni further explained his philosophy, saying, "I’m not worried about followers or who’s doing what. I focus on my cricket, and I know if I take care of that, everything else will follow."

Dhoni’s social media accounts, while active, are rarely used, with posts often being limited to family photos or glimpses of his farm. His minimal engagement online is a reflection of his desire to avoid the stress of maintaining a public image off the field.

On the topic of his fitness ahead of IPL 2025, the former CSK captain acknowledged that he is no longer as fit as he used to be, but he is working hard to stay in shape for the upcoming season.

"I'm not as fit as I used to be, so now there's a lot more effort needed in terms of diet and specific training for cricket. But as wicketkeepers and batters, our fitness requirements are not as intense as fast bowlers," Dhoni shared.

He also revealed that playing multiple sports helps him stay active. "What helps me is playing a lot of sports in between my training. Whenever I get the chance, I play tennis, badminton, or even football. It keeps me engaged and is the best way for me to stay in touch with fitness," he added.
