Afghanistan upset Australia by 21 runs on Sunday (23rd June) at Kingstown, St Vincent. A powerpacked 118 run opening stand from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran helped them get 148 on the board in a sluggish pitch. In reply, Gulbadin Naib took 4 wickets to rip through the Aussies batting and handed Afghanistan a historic 21 run victory over Australia.

Being asked to bat first, Afghanistan openers started decently in a tough condition. Batting according to the merit of the pitch and delivery. Once Gurbaz got into the pitch, he started teeing off the Aussie bowlers. The duo added 118 runs to the opening stand and gave them a solid foundation.

Aussies fielding were clumsy as well, there were so many miss fields, miss catches and everything together made a mess. However, Pat Cummins had a hat-trick and pulled things back for Australia. But Afghanistan already had 148 on the board.

In reply, Travid Head was gone to a beauty from Naveen Ul Haq. Marsh tried to counter-attack but was gone to Naveen as well. Nabi came in and removed Warner and Australia were into a deep trouble inside the powerplay.

Maxwell and Stoinis tried to salvage the situation but the latter one fell to Gulbadin Naib and Australia were crumbling to get going. However, Maxwell got fifty but couldn't take the game deep as he perished to Naib.
Gulbadin ran riot through the Aussie middle order and teared them apart into pieces.

Australia were all out for a paltry 127 runs and lost the game by 21 runs. Australia's qualification to the semi-final has been dented by Afghanistan and this is high chance now that Afghanistan will reach to the semis.
