Reportedly, the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Mumbai Indians (MI) are already out of the IPL 2024 title race . The all-around sensation Indian player Hardik Pandya took over as MI's new captain earlier in 2024, but the team has had a lot of struggles in the 17th edition of the IPL.

MI's premature exit from IPL 2024 comes after a series of disappointing performances, with the team managing only four wins and suffering eight losses in their 12 matches so far. MI left the competition early despite having a strong lineup and a history of success in the league. This is due to their failure to achieve consistency.

Amid challenging times for the Mumbai Indians and their current captain Pandya in the Indian Premier League 2024, fast bowler Gerald Coetzee from South Africa has voiced his support for captain Hardik Pandya.

“He’s (Pandya) been a really good captain, I think as you get different captaincy styles, he’s got a unique style that is unique to him, and no captain is the same. He’s been really good. He’s been really motivational to the guys, he’s been unequivocal with the plans, and I think he’s an exceptional captain,” Coetzee was quoted as saying by News18

Talking about the MI captain Hardik Pandya's performance in the IPL 2024 as a captain he scored just 198 runs from 11 innings at an average of 19.8 and picked up 11 wickets in ten games at an economy of 10.58.

The 23-year-old South African star Coetzee also expressed his experience in the IPL 2024 “It’s been incredible. I think it’s lived up to the hype, It’s been incredibly challenging from a cricket point of view, which is exactly what I want from my career. I think I’ve learnt a lot. I’ve done good things. I’ve made mistakes. I’ll take that, and hopefully, in future IPLs, I can come back and learn and rectify,” Coetzee said.
