Fortune Barishal, the reigning champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), have made a significant addition to their squad by signing the talented cricketer Towhid Hridoy for the upcoming season. Hridoy, who last played for Comilla Victorians, brings both experience and youthful energy to the Barishal side as they aim to defend their title.

A member of Bangladesh’s victorious Under-19 World Cup squad in 2020, Towhid Hridoy has quickly established himself as a consistent performer in white-ball cricket. His rise in domestic and international cricket has been impressive, especially in the BPL, where he has proven to be a reliable performer over the last two seasons. His first major breakthrough came while playing for Sylhet Strikers in 2023, and he continued that form with Comilla Victorians in the last edition. Notably, he scored the first century of the season for Comilla and played a pivotal role in leading the team to the final.

Fortune Barishal, however, clinched the title last season, overcoming Comilla Victorians in the final. This time, Hridoy will don the Barishal jersey as they prepare to defend their crown. Barishal confirmed Hridoy's signing through a post on their official Facebook page, signaling their intent to bolster their squad with young, impactful players.

Alongside Hridoy, Barishal have also retained Tamim Iqbal, the star of the last season and the highest run-scorer of the tournament. Tamim led the side to their championship victory and was named Player of the Tournament. Additionally, Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf will also remain part of the Barishal setup.

As the BPL draft approaches on October 14, Fortune Barishal are setting their sights on assembling a formidable team for the new season.
