Earlier, Jamaica Tallawahs won the toss and decided to bowl first. But they had a setback as they lost their premium pacer Mohammad Amir after just 3 deliveries. But Wasim and Green handled things very nicely as in the powerplay both of them left the batters gasping for runs. As a result, Saint Lucia Kings managed to score only 30 runs losing 2 wickets in the powerplay.
Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and the Kings got nothing in their hands as their batters recklessly threw their wickets away. Just when it looked like they were starting to make their way back in the game with Roston Chase and Sikansar Raza going strongly, Fabian Allen struck with a double blow and removed both of them at the same over. He finished with his best CPL figures, 4-25. Roston Chase top scoring the chart with his gutsy 40 from 36 deliveries, Sikandar Raza had a flow but couldn’t make it longer as he scored 19 off just 12 balls. Saint Lucia Kings finished their innings on 125-9 after allotef 20 overs.
In reply of 126, the Jamaican openers gave them a flying start. Courtesy some exceptional hitting showcase from Brandon King and English superstar Alex Hales. The duo added 43 to the tally just in 4 overs. King scored 30 off 19 while the later one made 24 off 17 balls. Once both of them departed Raymon Reifer and Imad Wasim steered the ship. The duo had a partnership of 42 runs which almost took them home but Imad went back to the hutch scoring15, but left Jamaica Tallawahs needing only 11 to win the match. Reifer smashed a maximum then to take JT to the Qualifier 2 of CPL 2023.
