South African middle order batsman, JP Duminy has been been dropped from the
.
South Africa is currently taking on England in England in a four match Test series. Duminy featured in the 1st match, but failed to make an impression, scoring 15 and 2 in his two innings. In the 2nd Test he had to make way for the returning South Africa Test captain
. And now he has been released from the side for the remainder of the series.
Duminy is going through a rough patch in Test match cricket. His last century in the international Test arena was against
in Johannesburg, almost 6 months ago. Post that he has only managed 121 runs in 8 innings.
Skipper du Plessis had previously hinted that Duminy could get dropped from the side as his performances have not been up to the mark.
"JP will be the first guy to say he knows he needs to score runs for this team and it's no different for anyone else,"
du Plessis said.
"He knows at the end of the day that it's about runs. He understands that if it has to come to a position where there is someone else that needs to be looked at… he will be the first to acknowledge [that]. He is a crucial part of our senior player group and he will always put the team interests above himself so yes, he will be the first to acknowledge that."
The 3rd Test between South Africa and England will start on 27 July at the Kennington Oval, in London.
