50-over competition Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will be back on field this year.
Last year coronavirus pandemic forced DPL to be called off after one round of matches. The fate of the tournament hung until
Cricket Board (BCB) set the window. With National Cricket League ending on April 30, DPL will kick off on May 6. The tournament could be paused if Asia Cup T20 Cup takes place which would make the national players unavailable. The first window of DPL 2021 will continue till May 11 before resuming on the 31st of the month. In between that time Bangladesh men's team will take on
for three ODIs at home. Tentatively, the tournament will end on June 14 or 24 depending on the fate of Asia Cup. It is yet to be confirmed if the same teams from last year would continue this time round.
The players have had only one 50-over tournament since the pandemic - BCB President's Cup, an unofficial List A tournament, in October. The national side completed a 3-0 sweep over West Indies, and are now currently touring New Zealand for three ODIs and as many T20Is.
DPL will be back in mid-April in 2022. The same timeline (April-May) will be followed in 2023, the 50-over World Cup year, as well. Abahani Limited are the reigning champions from 2019. In that year,
(208* off 153) become the first Bangladeshi to hit a double century in List A cricket. That came in Abahani's last Super League game against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club while chasing 318.
