Ireland saw a heavy loss against Sri Lanka by 133 runs on Sunday ( 25 June) at Queens sports club, Bulawayo. Dimuth Karunaratne's hundred and Wanindu Hasaranga's 5 wicket haul helped SL crush Ireland.

Earlier the day Ireland opted to bowl first and got a very good start by removing Pathum Nissanka for 20 and number three batter Kusal Mendis for a duck. Barry McCarthy and Mark Adair had been superb with the new ball. After the departure of these two, Dimuth Karunaratne and Samarawickrama the old cliche of Sri Lanka took the onus on their shoulders.

The duo added 168 runs together at 4th wicket stand and took every bit chance of Ireland to qualify for the next round. Samarawickrama made a fantastic knock of 82 off 86 before seeing himself in the hands of Harry Tector. While his partner and test skipper Dimuth Karunaratne notched up his maiden ODI hundred before Mark Adair's peach uprooted his stumps.

Asalanka and Dhananjaya De Silva together had some time and added 46 as Asalanka made a quick-fire 38 off 30 and De Silva scored a fine 42 off 35. A lower order collapse saw SL score lower than their anticipation as Ireland pulled things back in the end of the innings. Nevertheless Sri Lanka added 325 on the board.

Chasing the total, Ireland lost their top three inside the powerplay of alloted 10 overs including their skipper Bilbirnie. The rising star Harry Tector scored 30 off 35 before the magician Hasaranga trapped him for LBW. Curtis Campher scored 39 off 31, Dockrell scored 26 off 34 all of these knocks just reduced the deficit.
