Dhaka Capitals continue to bolster their squad ahead of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 season, signing Afghanistan’s left-arm spinner Amir Hamza. The 33-year-old spinner, who has international experience and previously played for Dhaka Dominators in the BPL, is set to make his return to the tournament in the colors of Dhaka Capitals.

The franchise confirmed the signing via a post on their official Facebook page. Amir Hamza made his international debut for Afghanistan in 2012 and last played for his country in 2023, during a Test match against Bangladesh at Mirpur. Known for his accuracy and control, Hamza brings a wealth of experience to Dhaka’s bowling attack as they gear up for the new season.

This season, Dhaka Capitals are making their debut in the BPL under the ownership of popular Bangladeshi actor Shakib Khan. The team is not only drawing attention due to its star-studded ownership but also for its impressive signings. Dhaka has already added local talents such as Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzid Hasan Tamim, alongside foreign heavyweights like Johnson Charles, Alex Hales, and Thisara Perera.

Amir Hamza’s addition to the squad ensures that Dhaka Capitals have a well-rounded team with plenty of international experience. Almost all of their foreign recruits have prior BPL experience, which will be crucial as they aim for success in their first season.

The player draft for BPL 2024 is scheduled for October 14, but teams like Dhaka Capitals are already securing key players through direct contracts to build a strong roster.
