BCB retains Phil Simmons as head coach until 2027 ICC ODI World Cup
From October 2024 to February 2025, the 61-year-old was the head coach of Bangladesh's first team. They played in matches against South Africa, Afghanistan, the West Indies, and the Champions Trophy.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has retained the services of Phil Simmons as the Head Coach of the National Men’s Cricket Team. Simmons will stay in charge until the ICC ODI World Cup in October and November 2027. He was under contract with the BCB until the end of the ICC Champions Trophy, which was recently held in Pakistan and the UAE.

Simmons said: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with Bangladesh cricket on a long-term basis. The talent within this team is undeniable, and I believe we have the potential to achieve great things together. I am looking forward to the journey ahead.
"Having worked with some exceptional players already, I can see the immense promise in this squad. Their skill and passion for the game inspire me daily. Together, we can take Bangladesh cricket to new heights and create something truly special.

Simmons played 26 Tests and 143 ODIs for the West Indies from 1987 to 1999. In 2004, he started coaching at the international level with Zimbabwe and then moved on to coach Ireland from 2007 to 2015. He led the West Indies to victory in the 2016 ICC World T20, and he was named head coach twice. He was also Afghanistan's coach from 2018 to 2019.
