Punjab Kings beat Gujrat Titans by 11 runs on Tuesday (March 25) at Ahmedabad. Captain Shreyas Iyer smashed an outstanding 97* run knock to steer his side to a massive 243 on the board. In reply, Arshdeep Singh’s brilliant spell helped PBKS get a slender 11-run victory.
Being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings lost Prabhsimran Singh earlier on. And then Priyansh Arya and skipper Shreyas Iyer stitched a crucial 51-run stand together to steer the PBKS after the early blow. Azmatullah Omarzai came in and fumbled 15 deliveries only to score 16 runs before falling to Sai Kishore, and then Glenn Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep to the same bowler in the very next delivery and he too departed as PBKS fell in further trouble.
Marcus Stoinis too fell cheaply without troubling much as PBKS were losing wickets in a flash.
However, their skipper stood tall and blasted a sensational 97* off just 42 deliveries and Shashank Singh too smashed an outstanding knock of 44* off just 16 deliveries, helping PBKS get to a massive total of 243 on the board.
In reply, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill started off to a flier, adding 61 runs inside the powerplay before the departure of their skipper Gill after his quick-fire 33 off 14 deliveries. Joss Buttler then came in and partnered up with Sai Sudharsan as the duo kept steering the truck for GT, stitching 84 runs stand before the later one's fall.
Since then, GT lost the track of chasing as they kept losing wickets. Sherfane Rutherford tried to do something miraculous but failed to do so as Gujrat Titans were 11 runs short of the chase.
