Delhi Capitals (DC) wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is all set to return for the upcoming IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, March 30, according to reports from the Times of India. Rahul missed Delhi Capitals’ season opener against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to the birth of his first child.

The Delhi Capitals and Indian national cricket team star who recently became a father had been given permission to skip the opening game of the season to spend time with his family. KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty welcomed a baby girl on Monday. On social media the couple shared the joyous news stating, "Blessed with a baby girl."

KL Rahul’s return will significantly strengthen the Delhi Capitals' lineup bringing in his wealth of international cricket experience and recent strong performances in major tournaments like the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Delhi had acquired Rahul for a whopping INR 14 crores at the IPL 2025 mega auction and his return is expected to boost the team’s morale as they prepare for their second game of the season.

In Rahul's absence Delhi Capitals pulled off a thrilling one-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants chasing down a massive total of 210 in their first match of IPL 2025. Rishabh Pant’s side found themselves in a tough position reduced to 65 for five. However Ashutosh Sharma playing as an impact substitute on his franchise debut produced a stunning unbeaten 66 off 31 balls guiding DC to victory with three balls to spare.
