Former South Africa opener Hashim Amla will serve as the batting consultant for Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League (MSL) in South Africa. This will be his first time working as a consultant after completing his international cricket career.
36-year old Amla recently retired from international cricket. Amla will be with Blitz for their initial two matches on November 8 and 10 preceding he leaves to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, and will at that point rejoin the squad after November 25. He will play as the icon and captain of the Karnataka Tuskers in the T-10 League in Abu Dhabi.
After his appointment, Cape Town Blitz coach Ashwell Prince said, "Hashim's experience and knowledge in the game is huge. We look forward to bringing him to our management team.”
"There are clearly a couple of promising youthful batsmen in our squad, and I figure they will profit gigantically from having him around. It's likewise an open door for him to investigate whether a position, for example, batting consultant could be something that he should take up in future. I have no doubt that he’d do a great job at it if he did," he added.
Hashim Amla announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after the 2019 World Cup and after that he had signed with Surrey on a two-year Kolpak deal. He also confirmed that ho would continue the domestic cricket along with the MSL.
