Glenn Phillips smashed an unbeaten 58 off 31 balls and Daryl Mitchell struck another blistering unbeaten innings of 34 runs off 16 balls ensured New Zealand an another victory by 28 runs in a rain-affected 2nd T20I against Bangladesh on Tuesday at McLean Park, Napier. With the win, New Zealand win the T20I series also with one match hand. Earlier, they whitewashed Bangladesh in the ODI series. All-rounder Phillips helps New Zealand seal T20I series win

New Zealand started well despite losing the toss but no player was able to play a big innings. As a result, they lost 5 wickets scoring 111 runs in 13.4 overs. But continuing his purple patch, Phillips played another match-winning innings as Mitchell and he added 62 runs propel New Zealand to 173 for 5 before the play was stopped due to rain. Mahedi Hasan took 2 wickets for the visitors. The innings didn’t resume after that and the target settled at 171 runs for Bangladesh in 16 overs. There created a chaos all around about the target as it was first known that Bangladesh's target was 148 runs in 16 overs. But the on-field umpires rushed to stop the game in the second over of the innings. Match referee Jeff Crowe was seen to settle the score. Then the target increased to 170 runs in 16 overs. Bangladesh started their chase briskly but Liton failed again. A 81-run stand between Naim Sheikh and Soumya Sarkar for the second wicket kept the run-chase in control for the Tigers. But after Soumya and Naim got out, Bangladesh also lost their path and again they showed woeful batting. Without Naim, Soumya, Mahmudullah (21 off 12 balls) and Mahedi (12* off 6 balls) no one was able to reach the double-digit score. At the end, they stopped at 142/7 in 16 overs and lost another match on Kiwi soil. Tim Southee, Adam Milne, Hamish Milne all took 2 wickets each and Phillips took 1 wicket. Phillips was adjusted man of the match for his all-round performance.
