India’s star batter Virat Kohli had a disappointing return to Test cricket during the first match of the two-Test series against Bangladesh, held in Chennai on September 19. Kohli, who was making his comeback after missing the England series, was dismissed for a mere six runs in India’s first inning, leaving fans disappointed.
Facing Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud, Kohli fell on the second ball of the 10th over. In an attempt to drive a wide delivery outside off-stump, Kohli edged the ball with hard hands, and wicketkeeper Litton Das made an easy catch. Kohli’s dismissal left India at 34/3, as Bangladesh's bowling attack rattled the Indian top order.

Bangladesh opted to bowl first after winning the toss, and their decision paid off quickly. India’s captain Rohit Sharma was the first to fall, managing just six runs before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud in the sixth over. Shubman Gill followed soon after, departing for a duck in the eighth over.
Kohli, who had been expected to make an impact after missing previous matches due to the birth of his son, couldn’t deliver in his much-anticipated return. His early dismissal further increased pressure on the Indian side, who were already struggling against a spirited Bangladesh bowling unit.
