Australian captain Pat Cummins has sparked controversy with a bold remark ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. When asked by Fox Cricket which Indian cricketer he would slot into the Australian team, Cummins gave a blunt and surprising response: “No one.”
This provocative statement quickly caught the attention of cricket fans and experts, as Cummins implied that no Indian player, not even India’s top stars, could make it into the Australian lineup. His comment contrasted sharply with the responses of some of his teammates, who were more than happy to name their favorite Indian cricketers.
Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, and Travis Head were all asked the same question and offered a variety of responses. Veteran spinner Nathan Lyon chose Virat Kohli, noting his dominance in the top order. “It’d be a pretty strong batting lineup having Smith, Marnus and Virat in your top order," Lyon said.
Mitchell Marsh, who has had a close bond with Rishabh Pant during his time at Delhi Capitals, picked the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman for his attacking prowess. “Rishabh Pant. Batting at No. 5, he is such a good light-hearted, young fellow. He was my skipper at Delhi Capitals, he is a ripper," Marsh commented.
Travis Head offered a different perspective, opting for Rohit Sharma due to his aggressive style of play at the top of the order. “I’ll go Rohit Sharma at the top, he is batting pretty aggressively, isn’t he? I am happy with an aggressive bloke," Head stated,
Meanwhile, Scott Boland chose to focus on bowling, selecting Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. “I’ll choose Jasprit Bumrah. He is a three-format player and one of the best bowlers in the world," Boland praised.
