Throwback: When AB de Villiers responded to a debate on whether MS Dhoni should be dropped

However, he has been actively involved in the cash-rich Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings. In the last season, he was dismissed only three times. He entertained the fans by walking out to bat in the slog overs wherein he smashed massive sixes.
The former CSK captain scored 161 runs from 11 innings at an impressive strike rate of 220.54. The entire cricket fraternity is curious to know whether the 43-year-old will feature in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, the hopes and expectations have raised after the BCCI brought back the scrapped rule, according to which, he can be considered 'uncapped' and the CSK fans reckon that he will be retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Back in 2018, there was plenty of talks about dropping MS Dhoni from the team. It was at that time, Proteas' batting great, AB de Villiers reserved the highest respect for MS Dhoni.
The South African legend stated that he would play MS Dhoni in his team every day of every year before labelling him 'fantastic' for his records and contributions.
"You guys are funny. No, I would play MS Dhoni in my team every day of every year. He can be 80, in a wheelchair, and he would still play for my team. He is fantastic I mean look at his record. You want to drop a guy like that? You can go ahead by all means. I wouldn’t," AB de Villiers was quoted as saying by ANI.
