Every great cricketer has to put away the bat and pads one day.  For Bangladesh cricket, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim are two stars that will be missed very much when they leave the game.

Pacer Taskin Ahmed has admitted this, saying that it will take time to replace experienced players like Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur.  The next set of players, on the other hand, needs to step up and take charge.

Speaking to the media on March 21, Taskin emphasized that the transition phase for Bangladesh cricket will take time and effort. “As players, we all have to retire someday. It’s a bitter truth, but we must accept it. The senior players have served the team for many years, and now it’s our turn to take responsibility. It won’t be easy to fill the void left by players with 15-20 years of experience. They have won matches for Bangladesh, and naturally, we will miss them.”

The speedster also pointed out that senior players like himself and others who have been around for nearly a decade must now take the initiative in leading the team. “A transition period is always challenging. The sooner we adapt and rebuild, the better it will be for Bangladesh cricket.”

Bangladesh cricket is moving forward with hope, even though there are problems.  Young pacer Nahid Rana has been making news with his raw speed and promise as a new star.  The young man was told by Taskin that he was good enough to be a key player in the future.  “Nahid is a great prospect for us. There is no doubt about his potential. If he maintains his work ethic and dedication, he can contribute significantly to Bangladesh cricket in the years to come.”
