Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal had a heart attack while playing in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) game. This shocked and worried the cricket world.  Since then, the 36-year-old cricket player has had an angioplasty and a stent put in his heart to clear out a blockage that was found.  The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar is keeping an eye on him right now.

The eighth round of the DPL was held at BKSP on March 24. As usual, he was in charge of the game against Shinepukur on March 24.  But while Tamim was in the field during Shinepukur's turn, he suddenly felt sick.  He said he was uncomfortable and had chest pain, which made the medical team rush to help him.  Because of how dangerous the situation was, a plane was sent right away to take him to a hospital.

Because of how quickly things needed to be handled, Tamim wasn't taken to Dhaka but to a hospital close to BKSP.  According to reports, he was in such bad shape that he wasn't even able to get on the helicopter.

Instead, he was quickly taken to KPJ Hospital, which is close to the event.  Right away, he was taken to the hospital for an angiography, which showed that his coronary vessels were blocked.  Doctors quickly put in a stent (ring) to get the blood flowing normally again.

Tamim was in great shape in this year's Dhaka Premier League before he got sick.  He continued to do well in the DPL after taking Fortune Barishal to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title.  In his second game, he hit a hundred without being out against Partex. The next game, against Brothers Union, he hit another hundred without being out.
