Australian World Cup winning player David Warner had a rollercoaster ride in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2014 and quickly became a key player in the team. He even led SRH to their first IPL title in 2016, scoring lots of runs along the way. He finished the IPL tournament 2016 as second-highest run-getter with 848 runs. 

David Warner 2016 SRH However, Midway through the 2022 season, Warner's tenure as captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was ended,This decision came following a souring of relations between Warner and the franchise. Kane Williamson of New Zealand was appointed as his replacement, but the team struggled, managing only three wins out of 14 matches. 

When Warner went to congratulate his national teammate Travis Head on being acquired by SRH in 2023, he discovered he was blocked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SRH via social media. 

"It did hurt because it was a sense of like hurt for fans. The fans are the most important relationship you could have. The engagement with the fans that I had, with the team had was very good," Warner said on Ravi Ashwin's YouTube channel.

"I am not sure why I was blocked. But I did engage with a lot of fans on the social media side for SRH. I did feel it was my duty to engage with the fans, making sure they kept coming back. That is what is most important. But from the blocking point of view, I do not know. I have been sitting on it for about 5 years. It was bizarre. At the end of the day, I still have fans who come onto my page and talk to everyone. So it is great," he added.
