Pakistan cricketers Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik have shared their reactions following the national team's victory over Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024 match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 11.
Middle-order batsman Ahmed Shehzad highlighted the importance of net run rate (NRR) in the tournament. Shehzad stated that Pakistan should have chased the 107-run target set by Canada before the 17.3 overs mark to greatly increase their NRR.
“A good win for Pakistan in the end, this temperament was needed against India too. Still feel 107 runs against a team like Canada should have been chased before 17.3 overs,” Shehzad posted on X

Veteran all-rounder and Pakistan superstar Shoaib Malik, in a recent interview with a local sports platform, emphasized the significance of securing the win over net run rate considerations
"The win was more important than the net run rate; at least you got back on track. The way you finished the match in 17.3 overs, you could have finished it in at least 14-15 overs, and on top of that, I must give credit to Mohammad Amir—he bowled very well. The way he was given the third over was the right decision by Babar then, and it's good to see Amir bowling the way he used to," Malik said.
Talking about the match Chasing a modest 107 total against Canada, Pakistan struggled initially, failing to score a boundary in the first four overs. Saim Ayub's early dismissal for just six runs left Pakistan at 20-1 in 4.2 overs, putting them on the back foot.
However Mohammad Rizwan stayed composed and guided Pakistan to victory, remaining unbeaten as they chased down the target in 17.3 overs. His steady performance ensured Pakistan's successful completion of the chase.
