Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was in awe of Australia's Glenn Maxwell as he hit the fastest-ever World Cup century against the Netherlands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest hundred of the ODI World Cup in Delhi on Wednesday, October 25. The swashbuckling batsman reached the three-figure mark in just 40 balls in Australia's third consecutive win. He scored 106 runs off 44 balls, including nine fours and eight sixes.

Boom Boom expects middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed to play in the same way as Maxwell as he has similar skills to the Australian all-rounder.

“I expect Iftikhar Ahmad to play a similar role for our team. He definitely has the ability and the pitches are designed for powerful hitting. “You all have to really step on the gas now,” he added.

Remember, Glenn Maxwell showed no mercy to the Dutch bowlers and hit them all over the ground. He completed his ton in just 40 balls.

Iftikhar Ahmad failed to impress with the bat in the ongoing World Cup. He scored 101 runs in five innings at an average of 25.25 and an impressive strike rate of 140.28. In his last game in Chennai, he hit 40 runs off 27 balls against Afghanistan.
