Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared an emotional farewell message for his former Delhi Capitals (DC) fans after being bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record-breaking INR 27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. The staggering fee made Pant the most expensive player in IPL history, following his release by DC ahead of the mega auction.
Pant, who debuted for Delhi Capitals in 2016, spent nine years with the franchise and grew into one of the team’s most iconic players. In a heartfelt note posted on social media on Tuesday, Pant reflected on his time with DC, expressing gratitude to the fans and sharing his emotions after parting ways with the franchise that nurtured his growth from a teenager into a star cricketer.
“The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined,” Pant wrote. “I came here as a teenager and we grew together over the last nine years.
In his message, Pant expressed his deep appreciation for the DC fans who supported him through both high and low moments, including some of the most challenging times in his career.
“What made this journey all worthwhile is you, the fans. You’ve embraced me, cheered for me, and stood by me in one of the toughest phases in my life,” Pant continued. “As I move on, I carry your love and support in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field.”
