In a recent interview with Sports Tak, India's emerging sensation Rinku Singh expressed his desire to join Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) if the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decide to release him during the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Rinku, who has been with KKR since his debut in 2018, rose to prominence after hitting five consecutive sixes against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023.
When asked about the upcoming IPL 2025 auction and KKR's retention plans, the Indian Southpaw revealed that he hasn't had any discussions with the KKR management yet. "There have been no talks [with KKR management] about the retention plans or if I have to go in the auction. Let's see what happens," Rinku said.
When pressed further on which team he would prefer if not retained by KKR, Rinku was clear and named RCB as his top choice. His admiration for RCB and the prospect of playing alongside some of the biggest names in cricket, like Virat Kohli, seem to be a driving factor behind this preference.
Aside from his IPL career, Rinku Singh also addressed his exclusion from the squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. The left-handed batter recently represented India in the T20I series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
Reflecting on his domestic season, Rinku said, "Nothing...I didn't perform that well [in the domestic season]. I didn't play many matches in the Ranji Trophy...I played 2-3 matches. I wasn't selected because I didn't play that well. I might get selected for next-round matches."
