Prantik Nawroz Nabil is floating in the sea of appreciation by showing a unique example of sportsmanship. In the match between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Prime Bank Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier Division League (DPL) on Sunday (May 7), this young batter of Prime Bank left the field even though the umpire did not give him out.
In the 30th over of the second innings, the ball hit Nabil's bat and was caught by wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan. The fielders of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi club strongly appealed for out. The umpire did not respond to that request. Nabil left the field even though the umpire did not respond.
As the umpire did not give out, bowler Saif fell to the ground. Sheikh Jamal's captain Sohan rushed to the umpire. Nabil left the field when Sohan was talking with the umpire. This batter did not wait for the umpire's decision.
Although the umpire did not understand, Nabil correctly understood that the ball was carried by Sohan after touching his bat. This young cricketer created a unique example of sportsmanship.
When this incident happened, Nabil’s score was 75 runs. He was moving towards the century. If he did not leave the field, he could have scored a hundred! But Nabil created a unique example by giving priority to honesty over increasing the innings.
After the match, Nabil said, "It's a player's personal matter, there is nothing like wrong or right. Some cricketers think that he has been given out wrongly in his entire career, so if he gets an opportunity like this, he will use it. If a batter is not given out by the umpire, if he bats, that's his responsibility. No offense. I think a lot of batters do it because it feels right. And for me, it's right (to leave the field)."
Note that Nabil's team Prime Bank Cricket Club lost the match by 13 runs. Batting first, Sheikh Jamal collected 276 runs. Prime Bank needed 14 runs in the last over to win, with one wicket in hand. But in the last over, Mahedi Hasan was dismissed adding no run to the team’s total.
