The Pakistan cricket team is gearing up for its crucial match against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.
The Men in Green are expected to make a change to their starting XI against Australia. Usama Mir is likely to start, replacing Shadab Khan, who has been out of form recently.
Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat against India in their last game, making a win against Australia essential to boost their tournament prospects.
The team faced an additional challenge as several key players including Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Zaman Khan battled viral fever. These players were notably absent from optional training on Tuesday.
However, later most of the previously ill players were diagnosed after a thorough examination by Dr. Saleem, the medical officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was found fit.
With Fakhar Zaman ruled out of the match against Australia due to a knee injury, Pakistan is likely to stick with their opening combination of Abdullah Shafique and Imam ul Haq.
Pakistan's expected playing XI:
Abdullah Shafique, Imam-Ul-Haq, Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi.
