England's premier batsman, Joe Root, has heaped high praise on his teammate Harry Brook, following Brook's incredible performances in the recent Test series against New Zealand. Root, known for his remarkable consistency, believes that Brook is currently the best player in the world due to his ability to dominate in all conditions.

Brook has quickly established himself as a cornerstone of England's Test batting lineup, playing a key role in England’s 2-0 series victory against New Zealand. His contributions included a magnificent 123 in the second Test in Wellington, following an equally impressive 171 in the first match. These knocks marked Brook’s eighth century in just 23 Test matches since his debut in September 2022.

In difficult batting conditions, Brook scored a dazzling century at better than a run-a-ball, helping England post a competitive total of 280 in the first innings.

Root’s admiration for Brook was evident as he declared him the best batter in the world. "If you asked me, Brooky is by far and away the best player in the world at the minute. He has such an all-round game: he can absorb pressure, he can apply it, he can whack you over your head for six, he can scoop you over his head for six, he can smack spin, he can smack seam. He’s so hard to bowl to," Root stated during an interview with The Independent.

Brook's stats back up Root's claims. In just 23 Test matches, Brook has already scored 2,280 runs at an outstanding average of 61.62, which places him among the top batters in Test history for those with at least 20 innings.

Root, despite his own illustrious career, is in awe of Brook’s meteoric rise. "I’m trying to catch him, but he’s too good, isn’t he? He’s got another hundred this week and he’s one of the best players, if not the best player, to have ever played the game. It’s mega to play with him and he’s awesome to watch," Root concluded.
