Bangladesh young cricketer Najmul Hossain Shanto has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award for his performance in May. This in-form batter has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month for the first time.

Apart from Shanto, Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Ireland's Harry Tector have been nominated for the award.

Shanto won the Man of the Series award in the ICC ODI Super League series against Ireland, where he scored 196 runs. He scored 44 runs in the abandoned first ODI, 117 runs in the second ODI, and 35 runs in the third and series-deciding final ODI. His performance in this series earned him a place in the short list of players for the month of May.

Tector became the first Irish cricketer to be nominated for the award since Paul Stirling in 2021. Like Shanto, he was in great form throughout the series. Besides, Babar got the nomination because of his great performance in the series against New Zealand.

In women's cricket, Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Madavi and Thailand's Thipoatch Putthawong have been nominated for the Player of the Month award for May.
