The CA (Cricket Australia) has announced that Melbourne Cricket Club (MCG) will host one-off Australia Vs England Test match to celebrate the 150 years of Test Cricket.

CA has released a complete details about the future Test matches venues with a celebrity match at the MCG to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Test Cricket. There are some other notable points about the venues : 

1. The marquee Test match - Boxing Day Test and the New Year's Test matches are locked at MCG and SCG respectively until 2030-2031. 
2. Perth's West Test will kick off the Test summer for next three years, including an Ashes series next year. Which means that an Ashes series will commence at a venue other than the Gabba for the first time in more than four decades. 
3. For the first time in 50 years, the Gabba will not host men's Test cricket during the 2026/27 summer, because of the preparation of the Olympics. 

"We are delighted to confirm long-term hosting rights which provide certainty around the locations of some fantastic cricket over the next seven years," CA CEO Nick Hockley said today.

"We are confident this schedule ensures the best cricket will be played in the best venues at the right times across the country, including a fantastic mix of iconic Test matches, new blockbusters such as the West Test and Christmas Test and exciting day-night fixtures.

Nick Hockley also said the 150th anniversary Test match at the MCG will be a wonderful celebration for Test Cricket, claiming the format to be the pinnacle of Cricket. 

"The 150th anniversary Test match at the MCG in March 2027 will be a wonderful celebration of the pinnacle format of the game at one of the world's great sporting arenas and we can't wait to host England on that occasion."
