New Delhi: The Gujarat Titans, a prominent team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), are reportedly on the verge of significant changes within their coaching staff. According to sources, head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki are set to depart after a successful three-year tenure. The duo led the team to a title win in their debut season in 2022 and a runner-up finish in 2023, before concluding the 2024 season in eighth place under the leadership of Shubman Gill.
As per the latest reports from News18, legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is in discussions to join the Gujarat Titans' coaching staff for the upcoming season. This potential addition comes in the wake of Gary Kirsten's departure from the team, as he has taken on the role of white-ball coach for the Pakistan men’s team.
A source revealed, "Lot of changes on the cards. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are highly likely to move on and discussions around Yuvraj Singh have already begun. Nothing is finalised right now, but there could be some major changes in the coaching staff of the Gujarat Titans."
Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki have been integral to the Gujarat Titans since the team's inception in IPL 2022. Their leadership was pivotal in the team’s impressive debut, winning the championship in their first season and nearly repeating the feat in 2023. However, their third season saw a dip in performance, with the team finishing in the bottom half of the standings.
Reports also indicate that other members of the coaching setup, including Aashish Kapoor, Naeem Amin, Narender Negi, and Mithun Manhas, are exploring opportunities with other teams.
