Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise
have won the IPL title twice. Bangladeshi all-rounder
was instrumental in winning the both titles. This time, the star all-rounder will play again for Kolkata.
Shakib played in Kolkata from 2011 to 2016. The team won the title in 2012 and 2014. The franchise did not include him in the team in 2017, after that they did not get any more titles. Jahnavi Mehta is one of the owners of the team who is happy to get Shakib back.
Jahnavi, daughter of Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, said:
“Shakib was part of our team when we won twice, so he's kind of a lucky charm. Sheldon Jackson was in the 2016-17 season, it feels good to have him back too.”
Expressing satisfaction with the team, Jahnavi added,
“I am very happy. I was here last year too. That year, the auction was very big and the team was organized from two cricketers. It is about fine tuning this time. Shahrukh Khan's advice was just to go and get who you want.”
Shakib went up for auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. He was first called by the Kolkata Knight Riders at a price of Rs 2.2 crore. Then Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and
had a brief altercation for Shakib. In the end, his former team KKR took Shakib for 3.2 crore.
