Ireland have announced two men's squads for an upcoming white-ball tour to Zimbabwe in December, marking opener Paul Stirling's first series as permanent white-ball captain. Paul Stirling previously served as interim captain of the national team.

Cricket Ireland on Wednesday unveiled separate ODI and T20I squads led by Paul Stirling for their upcoming white-ball tour to Zimbabwe.

According to details, the Paul Stirling-led contingent will leave on December 1 and play three T20Is and as many ODIs. This will be the first tour captained by Paul Stirling since his permanent appointment as white-ball captain.

Ireland will play three T20Is and three one-day internationals during their upcoming tour. This tour marks the second bilateral series between the two nations within the same year. Ireland lost the T20I series 1-2 and the ODI series ended in a 1-1 draw last January.

The white-ball series begins with a T20I series starting on December 7 at the Harare Sports Club. The T20 series was followed by a series of three ODIs scheduled for December 13, 15 and 17. All six limited-overs matches will be played at the same venue in Harare.

“This is the men’s team’s first appearance since the ODI series in England in September. This tour marks the start of a new cycle under a new leadership structure and we look forward to seeing how this playing group develops towards the next Over-50s World Cup.

“However, before we get to that stage, we have two T20 World Cups to plan and prepare for and this tour is core to our preparations for the T20 World Cup next June.

“We showed the world what we are capable of at the last T20 World Cup, but with the talent and potential of this group of players we are confident we can go on and achieve even more.”
