BCCI officially confirmed that the remainder of this year's edition of the Indian Premier League will be played in the United Arab Emirates during September and October, later this year. The second half of IPL 2021 and the playoffs including the final will be played in the fixture.
Currently, BCCI and the IPL Governing Council is busy shaping up the tournament amidst many challenges around them. A bigger challenge for BCCI is bringing overseas players into the league. Most of the national teams will have their international fixtures during the time and that makes it hard to bring in overseas players.
Quite positive news has come on the side of the organizers as there is a possibility to allow a 50% crowd for the second leg of the IPL 2021, which is planned to happen in the United Arab Emirates. According to a report to Cricbuzz, vaccinated fans will be allowed inside the stadiums, if all goes well.
“The vaccinated fans can be allowed up to 50 per cent of the [stadium] capacity,” a UAE board official said according to Cricbuzz. Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has no objections to allowing a crowd if the local government doesn't have any objections to it. Also, the country is allowing fans for the sporting events with a condition that they’re vaccinated.
