India is afraid of playing against Pakistan, says the PCB Chairman

Chairman of The Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB), Shahryar Khan has criticized India for not honoring the bilateral series agreement signed by the two cricketing boards in 2014. He further claimed that India is scared to play against Pakistan after their humiliating defeat in the Champions Trophy final. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ ‘পাকিস্তানের সাথে খেলতে ভয় পায় ভারত’] Shahryar made these comments at the PM’s reception of the victorious Champions Trophy squad. He said,"After our win, we challenge India to come and play bilateral cricket with us. They don’t play us, they are scared of our team. They say we’ll play you in ICC matches but they won’t play us otherwise" India has not played Pakistan in a bilateral series since 2013. Al though the BCCI has shown interest to play against Pakistan, the Indian government has completely discarded the idea. The recent terrorism activity and unrest in Kashmir is the main reason for the Indian governments reluctance. Shahryar also emphasized the importance of building on from the Champions Trophy success. "We need to build on this victory. It’s not enough, we need to go a lot further. All cricket teams in Pakistan should take an example from this team. Be united with jazba, give importance to fielding and fitness and include youth in all teams – FC, division, university teams". Shahryar also hoped that other teams from around the world will now tour to Pakistan. He even said that the PCB is negotiating for a bilateral series with, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies and . "After this win, every team will want to play us. They should now come to Pakistan, there is complete security. God-willing, teams will start coming. We are in negotiations with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Indies. They can send their teams first for a short tour, maybe for just T20Is," said the soon to retire chairman.
