After the BCCI ended his central contract earlier this year, Ishan Kishan was no longer involved with the Indian cricket squad. India did not include the explosive wicketkeeper-batter in their squads for the June 2024 T20 World Cup or the white-ball series that followed in Sri Lanka.
After Kishan decided not to participate in India's December 2023 tour to South Africa, he was immediately cut from the squad.
At about the same time that he was seen partying in Dubai, the batsman allegedly turned down the invitation from the BCCI to play domestic cricket. Ishan Kishan's downturn, according to former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali, is due to his obsession with "fashion" rather than cricket. Basit Ali, a former cricketer from Pakistan, recently ripped into Ishan Kishan for being benched multiple times by the Indian national team on his YouTube channel.
Basit said in a video, "Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order. He too got into fashion a bit."
Although Ishan Kishan was a member of the Mumbai Indians team that competed in the 2024 Indian Premier League, he was a terrible player. He only managed to score 360 runs in 14 games while averaging a woeful 22.85 runs per game. Ishan Kishan's return to the Indian national team's lineup is still up in the air. His final international match was in November 2023 in Guwahati against Australia; he is 26 years old and has played in 32 Twenty20 Internationals, 27 One-Day Internationals, and two Tests for Team India.
