Gloucestershire have signed ex-Pakistan pace bowler Anwar Ali until the end of the One Day Cup campaign.

Gloucestershire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of Pakistani pace bowler Anwar Ali on a short-term deal until the end of the club's One Day Cup campaign.

The highly experienced former Pakistan international is expected to land in the country on Thursday.

A right-hander and right-arm, mid-paced bowler, Ali has made 36 appearances in white ball cricket for his national team and won 28 international wickets. He made his debut for Pakistan against Zimbabwe in an IT20 in 2008 and made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2013.

The 35-year-old has played more than 440 games in his franchise cricket career around the world. Former clubs include the Galle Gladiators in Sri Lanka, the Quetta Gladiators and most recently the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

He boasts an impressive return of 349 wickets from 108 first class wagers with an overall economy of just 3.20. A skilled lower-order batter, Ali has contributed 2,670 runs in red ball cricket and 2,420 in List A cricket with an average of 31.84.

In 147 List A games Ali has registered 177 wickets from 147 appearances and in T20 cricket he has recorded a return of 167 wickets and 1500 runs from 187 appearances.

Ahead of his English cricket debut, Ali, 35, stated: "I'm delighted to have signed for Gloucestershire as I've always wanted to play at county cricket." It's particularly nice to follow in the footsteps of Pakistanis like Zaheer Abbas and Kicking Sadiq Mohammed who played at the club for so long.”
